Cosplay for a Cause Charity Calendar & Ikkicon

Journal Entry: Sun Dec 11, 2011, 7:29 PM
Things-Not-Seen l Facebook l Gallery l dA Portfolio l Watch Me l Note Me l Journal Skins: How-To

I'll be attending Ikkicon in Austin, TX Dec 30 - Jan 1st as a cosplay guest. I think it'll be a fun way to spend NYE and I've never been to Texas before.

Though my Main goal while I'm there is to sell the Charity Cosplay Calendar I was part of with 18 other cosplayers from around the work, and artwork by Professional Comic artist.

If you can't make it to Ikkicon, you can order it on the website

We have a couple hundred left before we sell help!
Spread the word and please Help us reach our Goal!!
100% of the proceeds go to the Japanese Red Cross.

"Cosplay for a Cause 2012 Cosplay Calendar is a must have for any fan of cosplay. Rarely has something been done before with such a wide assortment of cosplayers, and who knows when you will see all these beautiful cosplayers together again. This calendar is full of high quality, never before seen photos, specifically done for this project. Each month will also come with a small illustration done by one of the 4 professional comic book artists involved in the project.

At full size the calendar will open to 11x22, allowing each beautiful image to be displayed at 11x17. The staples in the middle can be easily removed when the year is done so you can save your favorite photo!

So, here is your chance to help raise money and awareness for disaster relief in Japan while supporting your love of Cosplay! Do your part and help get the word out! And get your calendar while supplies last.

Thank you to everyone who has donated their time and energy to aiding the country that has brought us so much joy and inspiration over the years. Domo arigatou gozaimasu!"

I don't think so, last year I was invited as a guest so I was lucky to go. I had a great time and loved Austin!

What is a cosplay guest? I know what cosplay is, but what specifically is a Cosplay Guest? Does it mean the con pays for you to build your costume?

A cosplay guest is usually when con pays for you to come to their convention and be in costumes, as well as usually host panels and judge the contest, plus anything else. Most of the time its travel and hotel they will cover, sometimes more.

They don't pay for the costumes, but for me if they request a costume for me to wear I will try to wear it.

Thank you for the detailed explanation. I now have a hunch that is why so many pics of cosplayers online are low resolution - to encourage people to attend cons and take their own pictures of the cosplayers suited up :) very interesting!

I keep mind low resolution mostly because some artists were taking them and tracing them and then selling them on ebay without my even asking me or crediting myself and the photographer.
